The Division of Politics, Administration, and Justice at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Criminal Justice. The position begins in August 2017.
Position The Division of Politics, Administration, and Justice at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) is seeking a broadly trained candidate who can teach research methods and contribute to our elective curriculum. We are open to areas of specialization, but are particularly interested in a candidate who could teach courses in criminal justice policy, ethics, and/or comparative criminal justice. The candidate will also have the opportunity to teach in our Masters in Public Administration program and a developing Masters in Criminal Justice program. The ideal candidate will also be affiliated with our Center for Public Policy, which is involved in developing research and advisory opportunities with local community agencies.
Positive tenure and promotion decisions require excellence in teaching as well as research, publication in relevant juried or peer-reviewed venues, service, and participation in the broader campus and disciplinary community.
A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or related field is required. ABD's may apply but must show evidence that the degree will be completed by the time of appointment.
Ability to teach research methodology and a variety of courses in Criminal Justice and field of specialization.
Candidates should be able to interact effectively with a wide and diverse range of students and colleagues.
Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated success in effective teaching at the college level.
Ability to balance excellent teaching, scholarship, and professional service.
Active research agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications and a potential for external funding.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
Rank and Salary The positions will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure-track. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary is subject to budgetary authorization and any California State University System faculty contract increases. Additional teaching in summer and intersession is often available.
