This position is located in the Arboretum Operations department at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and provides security services for the department, staff, and visitors of the Landscape Arboretum and the Horticultural Research Center. This position reports to the Facility Manager.
Essential Functions: 80% - Responsible for managing the overall safety, welfare, security, and lawfulness of all University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum guests, employees, volunteers, and students • Responsible for protecting all the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum/Horticultural Research Center assets and property • Serve as Security team lead, train, schedule and recruit Security Officers. • Coordinate all outside contracting/scheduling of Law Enforcement Officers for special events and day-to-day activities at the Arboretum/HRC
20% - Support all other departments at the Arboretum and HRC with security needs • Respond to weather related emergencies as dictated in the Emergency Manual • May be listed, or suggest personnel to be listed on emergency call lists to respond to fire and security system alarms
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement or related field plus four (4) years of related experience, or a combination of related education and experience totaling eight (8) years.
Red Cross First Aid certified.
Valid MN drivers' license.
Must pass a background check.
2 years of experience in one of the following positions: Security Officer, Crime Prevention Officer, Peace Officer, or military equivalent positions
