This position guards and patrols assigned Bates Technical College premises to protect property, staff and students, and maintains a secure campus environment. The incumbent may be required to work irregular hours and weekends on occasion.
Patrol building and parking lot premises by walking, standing, and driving a motor vehicle; assist in monitoring hallways, grounds and other assigned campus and adjacent areas; report security concerns and problems to the first-line supervisor.
Investigate theft, property damage, vandalism, assaults, trespassing and other related disturbances on college property.
Rapidly responds to emergencies and other security concerns and may need to use force; report on and detain unauthorized persons in accordance with established college procedures; contact police or fire department when necessary.
Maintain a working knowledge of the campus fire alarm system, annunciator panel, and codes.
Initiate police and/or investigative reports; gather data on misdemeanors and prepare related documentation; refer cases to appropriate authorities as directed.
Assist in maintaining a positive liaison with students, staff, and community; promote prescribed standards of conduct and behavior.
Assist and advise staff, students, and visitors in proper safety procedures; enforce college security policies.
Transport items to campus locations as necessary.

An Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement or equivalent experience and education combined.
