Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Research Project Assistant, reporting to the Associate Director.
The Research Project Assistant will assist the Cornwall Center team in:
Data (primary and secondary) collection efforts regarding local, regional, and/or national studies on community and economic development, youth services programs, education and juvenile justice policies.
Preparing reports, summary materials, and fact sheets as required and requested. The hire may also conduct Internet searches to obtain additional information.
The Research Assistant will train interns and work-study students in data collection methods.
Complete work independently with broadly defined work objectives.
This position will be expected to work closely with Rutgers faculty and local school systems to gather data and develop written material.

A master's degree, preferably in urban and regional planning, urban studies, criminal justice, public administration, social work, social policy, public policy, or related field from an accredited graduate degree program. Successful candidate should have experience writing literature reviews, knowledge and experience conducting mixed methods research, interviewing experience, and comfortable working with large quantitative data sets.
Spatial analysis experience is also preferred.

Minimum requirement is 2 years' experience and a bachelor's degree, preferably in urban and regional planning, urban studies, criminal justice, public administration, social work, social policy, or public policy from an accredited degree program.
