Northwestern University School of Law invites applications for a clinical faculty position beginning in the 2016-2017 academic year in the Bluhm Legal Clinic. Candidates will be considered for appointment to the Clinical Faculty of the Bluhm Legal Clinic at Northwestern University School of Law at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications. We seek applicants with distinguished academic credentials and at least 10 years of relevant experience, who are licensed to practice law in Illinois or who are eligible for admission on motion under Illinois Supreme Court Rule 705.
The faculty member will be responsible for selecting cases, representing individuals in juvenile and criminal court, supervising law students who are working on cases, and teaching or co-teaching a criminal justice clinic course.
Additional responsibilities will include researching systemic problems in the criminal justice system; developing and participating in initiatives to identify relevant legal and policy reform objectives; and promoting substantive reform of the criminal justice system.
The Bluhm Legal Clinic currently includes clinical faculty teaching in its Center on Wrongful Convictions, Children and Family Justice Center, Center on International Human Rights, Entrepreneurship Law Center, Environmental Law Center, Appellate Advocacy Center, and other clinical programs that involve civil litigation and criminal defense.
