Sonoma State University is one of the 23 campuses of the California State University. Located in the Sonoma County wine country, 48 miles north of San Francisco, the University has an enrollment of approximately 9,000 students. The interdisciplinary American Multicultural Studies Department (AMCS) features a diverse faculty who is dedicated to teaching students how race and ethnicity impact life in the United States. AMCS houses the peer-reviewed Journal of Civil and Human Rights, published by the University of Illinois Press, and hosts the annual Africana Lecture Series. Our flexible major pathways allow students to tailor their major requirements to their particular fields of interest. DUTIES OF THE POSITION
The American Multicultural Studies Department at Sonoma State University is hiring a visiting assistant professor for the 2017-18 academic year. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach courses in any of the following: African American Studies, Asian American Studies, Native American Studies, or Mixed Race Studies. Teaching load is 3 courses/12 units per semester.
Ph.D is required by July 1, 2017. Teaching experience is desired but not required.
RANK AND SALARY
Salary range is approximately $58,000.
