A management position within Safety and Security’s Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) District Police portfolio responsible for the collection, analysis and reporting of crime, security, student discipline and related data in support of the department’s strategic and tactical objectives. Position will be a member of a highly regarded team of police and public safety professionals.
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education. 2. Two (2) years of experience as a crime analyst, criminal intelligence analyst or similar within a public or private sector environment equal in scope to the duties and requirements of the position. 3. Special Requirements a. Must obtain Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Level 2 User certification and training within 6-months of hiring as a condition of employment. Incumbent must maintain certification throughout employment in this position b. Must obtain Intelligence Liaison Officer certification within 6-months of hiring as a condition of employment. Incumbent must maintain certification throughout employment in this position. c. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license, and retain the ability to drive a district vehicle as required by the department. 4. Must successfully pass a comprehensive background assessment which includes a criminal history check, drug screen, fingerprinting, testing and related selection criteria. Candidates may not possess any felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions related to moral turpitude or gross misconduct.
Special Note: Incumbent shall be subject to specialized training, background reviews and confidentiality and compliance requirements as outlined by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and other criminal justice agency user agreements so as to fulfill the duties of the position. The incumbent is considered to be “essential personnel” subject to being held over or called back to a district work location or alternate site at all times. Incumbent may be assigned to the other operational support venues as deemed necessary by department leadership. Position shall be exposed to confidential, restricted and highly sensitive information requiring the utmost discretion and compliance with all administrative rules, directives, policies, procedures, regulations and statutes governing its distribution.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Current experience as a crime or criminal intelligence analyst working within a data-led policing environment is preferred. Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and disseminate data and other information to support organizational decision-making. Experience using criminal justice information systems and other complex relational databases to achieve results. Familiarity with mandatary criminal justice compliance and reporting requirements (i.e., Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics, Uniform Crime Report, etc.). Background in working with GIS crime mapping software to graphically identify and depict crime-related patterns and trends. Training and experience in the use of statistical analyses and modelling. Proven ability to apply principles of continuous improvement and quality assurance within the work environment. Demonstrated project management skills and proven ability to move assigned projects from concept to implementation within the allotted timeframes. Possesses strong analytical, problem identification and resolution capabilities. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, effectively presenting findings and ideas in a clear, concise and understandable manner. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative, healthy and productive working relationships with co-workers and others engaged in the course of work. Consistently demonstrates a high degree of accountability, personal integrity and emotional maturity. Demonstrated ability to effectively, continuously and discreetly work with confidential, restricted and/or potentially sensitive information.
