The College for Creative Studies (CCS) invites applications for a full-time Director of Campus Safety and Security. This position reports to the Vice President for Administration and Finance. The Director of Campus Safety and Security is responsible for the overall safety and security of the CCS campus, as well as working with all constituents in developing, understanding and applying campus safety policies and procedures. The Director is also responsible for being informed on all government regulations related to security and ensuring the College is compliant with these regulations.
Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions:
Develop, implement and administer operational policies and procedures for campus safety and security;
Develop effective campus-wide communication and informational programming regarding campus safety and security policies and procedures;
Enforce compliance of staff, faculty, students and visitors with policies, procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations;
Supervise internal and external staff and recommend changes related to staffing needs;
Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies (police, fire and other) partners to promote campus safety and security;
Responsible for Crisis Management planning as well as educating and training the CCS community on these plans;
Maintain a strong relationship with and support non-CCS building tenants;
Administer and maintain Annual Security Report, including reporting all required data and disclosures;
Schedule and maintain shuttles;
Develop and administer budget necessary to maximize campus safety;
Perform additional duties as required.
Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Justice Administration or a related field;
Professional experience of 10+ years in law enforcement or corporate security services and a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory capacity;
Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, public relations and supervisory skills;
Experience in administering the fiscal operation of a college/university, police or corporate security department;
Ability to perform all the tasks associated with a law enforcement and public safety position;
Respect for diversity and ability to relate effectively to diverse ethnic groups and to students of all ages;
Experience, ability and willingness to work in an academic environment.
Experience with youth groups preferred.
