This position will begin in August 2017. The ideal candidate will be a skilled scenic, costume, or lighting designer with additional experience in the other two design areas. Sound design experience is a plus. This candidate will also have demonstrable skills in production management. Also teach introductory courses in the other design areas, stagecraft, drafting and rendering, and theater production Design in area of expertise for the mainstage season Serve as production manager for all shows within the MainStage season Develop and implement a program that recruits and prepares students to take on design roles within our production season Mentor and supervise all student designers in the areas of scenic, lighting, costume, and sound design Work closely with the program director to develop protocol and procedures that emphasize maximum student safety within the new theater center building.Our program will be moving into a new theater center August 2017. Recruit, train and mentor all student prop designers Manage design budgets and make purchases and rentals for all design areas Develop a growing network of professional designers that will be contracted to work within our MainStage season Work closely with contracted scenic, lighting, costume, and sound designers and will supervise their work within the production season In addition to teaching, course development, and production work, full time faculty responsibilities include service to the university and the community.
